Yeah, emphasis on the shit part. Five piles of it waiting for me when I stepped through the door, courtesy of roommate's cat. Neither me nor my roommate were home at all yesterday. Princess Poop obviously got upset that her human abandoned her. Just imagine the overdramatic voice on those last words there. I walked in the door well after six, luggage on my back and in my arms, my dinner in my hands and get blasted by the odor of a protest poo marathon. And here I was all happy that I figured out how to get my car's audio system to randomize my mp3s while stuck in freeway traffic because I was bored and started pushing buttons.

Thankfully, the refuge of my bedroom is still a refuge, because I insist that the door stays closed while I'm gone. That was just for the Duchess of Dung. Without my voodoo priestess of an itteh bitteh kitteh to keep the intruders at bay, I was discovering unpleasant surprises of fur. Put a stop to that and prevented one room from getting shitbombed. So, now it's scarf down my dinner while it's still warm and the rest of the place is airing out, and steel my gut and nose for the oncoming cleanup assault.

I live!

Yay! After busting my ass for the past few months, I got promotion! I'll have to bust my ass even more to get my desk cleaned up for the next person who takes it up. I wouldn't want to be that person who has to take up my projects. Clocked 50 hours this past week.

Saw the updates about the YJ cartoon. Yeah, called it. It's really just another Teen Titans. I'm just wondering how Kid Flash Wally and Robin Dick are supposed to be in the same time period as Superboy Conner and Miss Martian. TIME TRAVEL! It's always time travel. Nah, too clever. So, the spite muse marches on, despite the fatigue.

Speaking of spite muse, got an interesting negative review on Reset: Gemini Ascendant. Guess I'm going to have to make things a bit more clear cut in the writing, even though I don't like bludgeoning ideas. Then again, it's only three chapters in and I have two more upcoming that are almost ready. Then there's all the little scenes that I have done that don't have chapters yet. Nonlinear writing FTW!

I guess I could give some behind the scenes commentary here. Both Arrowette and Inertia were used as vehicles for their caretakers' personal vendettas. Bonnie wanted to relive her glory days. Thawne wanted to "win" a feud. Both kids were stuck into costumes and trained/conditioned without anyone asking them if they wanted to do this. Both have stepped up to the line when it comes to killing. Arrowette let her arrow loose and it was only by the chance of Superboy catching it that her target lived. Inertia had Impulse and Max Mercury one hit away from being torn apart in the storm, but pulled back and ran off. Funny enough, it's Arrowette who actually crossed the line in the comic books. So, they actually have some common ground between the two. Talking to each other could be theraputic and these are characters that need therapy. Am I going to have some boom-chika-wow-wow action going on between the two? Hell no! Am I going to let Inertia have a *gasp* friend? Yes. Are they going to get teased by their adolescent peers because the opening is there? Oh, hell yes!

So, I'll keep going with my master plans and just keep in mind that I might need to make things a little more clear cut in the future.

Well, now that the work week is done and I'm in my comfy chair once again, I have some time to ruminate over the latest Young Justice news. While I left a short comment with my immediate thoughts on Scans Daily, here's a more expanded version.

First of all, the upcoming Young Justice animated series is Young Justice in name only. The characters are Teen Titans, except for TokenLad. He reminds me of Spike from X-Men Evolution. Why, oh why, couldn't they take a character like Empress or Natasha Irons to fill their diversity quota? Or Jaime Reyes? But then again, Jaime is fun and, while Young Justice does fun, Teen Titans does not.

Part of this direction for the show may also be that Teen Titans isn't doing well in sales. At this point in sales terms, Young Justice ended up on the chopping block. YJ also didn't have nearly the amount of marketing and brand awareness that Teen Titans has enjoyed. It wasn't until the age of the blog that YJ gained a serious following, simply because no one knew about it. Marketing FAIL. So, if TT is doing that poorly with all the backing it has, that isn't a good sign and something needs to be done to revitalize the franchise. I'd say get better stories and ditch the angst, but that's asking a bit much these days. So, it's make a new cartoon of the same old same old and slap the YJ name on it. Yes, I know that the show hasn't aired yet, but trends are trends and I've long ago learned to look behind the curtain. With DC, it isn't as much about the stories and characters as it is about the editors and pet writers and PTB. Sad, but true. Marvel isn't much better.

So, it comes down to jaded Randomality is jaded and the spite muse got some fresh spite. I had seriously hoped that the show would be YOUNG JUSTICE and I could put the spite muse away for a while, but with Johns at the helm instead of Timm or somebody fresh who actually knows about and gives a crap about YJ, I kinda expected it to disappoint. The DC PTB crew know what they like. I just don't share the same taste.

My comfy chair! My comfy bed! My shower!

It's not that my other accomodations are bad. They're great. It's just not the same. At least the other crash spot has better laundry facilities and nobody upstairs. Oh, and better parking. I don't get as paranoid about my car, since that might as well be home number three. Or four. I'm losing count. Might as well say that whereever I crash is home.  Still, there's something to be said about sliding into a recliner that's meant for your butt.

And I'll have to leave in seven hours. Believe it or not, I'm getting more sleep than I used to. Six hours beats four.

In other news, braaaaaaiiiiiins.

Been busy and not home much for the past month. It's kinda odd to wake up and not immediately know where I am. Not that I haven't done this before. I just thought I wouldn't be revisiting the quasi-nomadic life until I was an old snowbird.

Anyways, on a more random tangent, I was visiting the folks today and had my laptop connected to their wireless network. Then the connection between the laptop and router dropped. The wireless connection between the home network and the ISP dropped. After a few minutes, the connection between the router and the laptop restored, but the connection to the ISP didn't. I was watching my connection radar and seeing the two other wireless networks in the "neighborhood" alternatively appear and disappear. Now, since this is out in the country and there's not much obstruction or noise between the home networks in the area, it's hard saying exactly how far away these networks were, except that they're generally on the edge of the radar.  After about a half hour, the connection to the ISP reestablished and we had internet access again.

The mystifying bit was what caused it to drop like that? Especially to cut off the link between the router and the laptop. Mom was half-joking about sunspots or the big satellite dish thing in the mountains. Or about someone in the hills playing with EMPs. Considering the usual levels of weird in the area, you can't really discount oddball theories.

Speaking of the hills, it's kinda cool to still see snow in them. Of course, that means that it's a bit too cold for strong germinations in the garden yet. The soil just isn't getting warm enough.

Cat died at a quarter to four this afternoon. She wasn't in any pain. Sixteen years old. I took her to my parent's place and buried her under the trees near the fence she liked to perch on. I've lived longer with her than without her. It's going to take a while.

Car is being repaired. So far, I'm impressed with how well Geico has been treating me. Then again, I don't hold a policy with them. I'm kinda waiting for everything to explode in a supernova of suckage, too. That might be because of how my previous insurance company treated me. Don't bother with State Farm. It took two months of fighting with them to resolve a claim I had last year. Half a tree had fallen on my last car and totaled it during a winter snowstorm. So, my opinion of insurance companies went from suspicious to hostile.

Cat is was incontinent this morning. At least now I know that her urine looks and smells normal without interference of clumping kitty litter. I force fed her a couple of tablespoons of chicken broth with a syringe. She doesn't have to starve through this.

Also, note to self: You can't live off of Earl Grey alone. It does not count as food.

Yeah, I guess that's how it is right now. The past couple of months have been a bit rough. A lot of struggle and expense just to end up with really bad news.

My cat went in for surgery to remove a squamous cell carcinoma from her lower eyelid last month. It was a bit of a scare and very expensive, but the prognosis was good and she was well on her way to recovery. Then last week, she got bloaty and constipated. Then she lost her appetite. I took her into the vet again and it seems like the bloat is fluid accumulating in the abdomen. Best guesses as to cause are organ failure or FIPV, which is a nasty little virus. Both are fatal. But I can't afford the ultrasound and tests used to further diagnose the problem. In any case, there's not much in the way for treatment for both possibilities. So, it's get a B12 shot and a stool softener for the constipation and make the cat as comfortable as I can.

On top of that, someone backed into my car and busted the taillight and dented the bumper. At least it was just that and I got the insurance info from the guy.

I need to get back to writing. Maybe it'll distract me enough. I doubt it.

I better be racking up the karma points.

I wasted way too much time with this site: thatguywiththeglasses.com/

Home to the Nostalgia Critic and the Nostalgia Chick, it has shades of MST3K, but funnier and with movies that were meant to popular. Also has commentaries on themes and Top 11 lists.

City of Heroes is an awesome game to play. Where else are you going to see Impulse and Deadpool team up to take on a giant snowman?

A couple nights ago, my mom woke up to the sound of something attacking the chickens. Immediate casualties were two of three hens dead, one hen badly mauled, and a the rooster got a rip in his comb. We mused over what attacked the birds when I came over. Raccoon? No, they just take one at a time, carrying them off to eat. Coyotes? No. The carcasses weren't cleaned. Coyotes are pros. They go in, get what they want, get out. No careless playtime, unless they're training puppies and this isn't puppy season. That leaves dog. A dog will attack the chickens, shake them to death, and go onto the next all for fun. They won't necessarily eat the carcass. As it turns out, the a couple of neighbors don't manage their dogs well. There's a nasty little yappy thing in particular that knows no boundaries. Nasty little yappy things are more likely to go after birds and kill them fast. Unfortunately, there's not much to be done to redress the situation.

Last I heard the last hen was alive. I checked in on her on Friday. She was in pain and I added some new hay to the spot she had decided to hide in. I also had to kick the rooster out of the coop, because he wouldn't stay off of her. I had to pull him off by the tail. He just froze and let me pick him up and carry him out. He's big boy and I was expecting a fight or at least a struggle. Nope. No problem from him. I was pleasantly surprised. Hopefully the hen made it. I guess I'll find out later.

::Update::

Hen died. Rooster got mauled too. Total loss on chickens.

Folks, this is the shit that happens when you don't train your dogs or at least confine them so they don't wander off your property. Other peoples' animals die for their entertainment. In this case, a household is now deprived of one of its food sources.

This was pretty well done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZwM3GvaTRM

I haven't read or seen any of the Twilight material, but if those lines are supposed to be romantic, EW! EWEWEW! What is wrong with those fangirls?! That's worse than some bodice-buster with fangs. It's one event away from a rapefic! Please tell me I'm completely wrong.

Just on a technical note, the Twilight movie also overuses the blue filter, while Buffy used a lot of yellow filters. It's really interesting to note the contrast between the cool and warm lighting.

Yay! The Blackout arc is done! I can move on to more lulzy stuff! Things like Max and Jay on a golf course! Bart's wardrobe malfunction! Thad's mysterious internet girlfriend! Cassie's new power patron! (Yeah, the demigoddess thing isn't sticking here.) So much to get to and so little time!

I don't know exactly what I'm going to call the next arc. I guess I'll figure it out after I get a few chapters cohesively linked together or figure out where I want to end it. That's kinda the problem with not writing in a linear fashion.
